A brief history of my adventurous career

Introduction

The days I stepped into youth, I had the feelings driving me towards social and religious activities. I did as my feelings wanted and started taking part in social and youth activities both in the Church and many other welfare organizations, holding a position of Office Bearer. As a result of my involvement, I achieved the goal in Community Development, remarkably in Education, Health and in promoting Peace.

Training Abroad

In 2002, I got “Leadership Training” from Haggai Institute (H.I) Singapore, was
awarded a certificate of “Leader”. With this certificate, After having the Leadership Training I Organized several Leadership Seminar to train the others. I became the H.I Alumni and won the honor of being placed on the Executive Board H.I Pakistan.

Additional Responsibility

After the 9/11 incident, God made an increase to my activities. I made an addition to my activities by working for interfaith community.
Interfaith community was the forum on which both Muslims and Christians resolved their disputes through negotiations. I was the Executive Director of Tehreek Taraque-I-Insaniate (Organization of community Development) and Chief Organizer of Muslim and Christian Ithad-Gulberg-Lahore. The World knows that Muslim extremists in Pakistan burnt the entire Christian village called Shantinagar. I played a role in arranging demonstration against the brutality and faced stern opposition from the criminals involved in the incident.

Our Org. worked closely with United Religions Initiative (URI)-USA www.uri.org promoting Inter-religious Dialogue and Peace and affiliated in 2003 as Cooperation Circle and I also became the Member of World Peace Prayer Society-USA. www.worldpeace.org .

Achievements

In 2004 I also became the Executive Member of URI-MCC-Pakistan. Fr.James Chanan OP, is Regional Coordinator of Asia.

On 18th November 2004, The World Peace Prayers Society promoted me as Peace Pal Coordinator (volunteer). It was in recognition of my devoted services done among the children for promoting peace.
Holding a position of Chairman of Peace and Development, being affiliated with Peace prayer society, having membership of International network of Peace Education, I have been working with children in schools and Sunday schools for the promotion of peace, all doing as a volunteer.

We celebrate the International Day of peace on 21st September every year.
On this day we arrange Interfaith Peace Walk from Assembly Hall to Press Club. . Maulana Khabeer Azad and other prominent dignitaries join our movement with the National Media giving it significant coverage.

21st Sep.2004, we managed a Peace Walk to Waga, a place situated at a border between Pakistan and India. Father Maurice of St. Mary’s Church Gulberg-Lahore and UP Church Rev.Hanook Haq were among the participants whose presence enhanced the prestige of the show.

On this occasion, Peace songs were sung by the Children, recitation was performed from the Holy Bible, Sermon on Peace was given by men of high learning, prayers were made for the Solidarity of Pakistan and India and Candles were enlightened. This event fetched resounding applause from the public.

21th Sept. 2005, Interfaith Peace Seminar was arranged at Press Club Lahore with . The National press gave it a large coverage. Major Irfan Gill, Deputy Secretary Aquf Govt. of Punjab-Pakistan was the Guest of Honor. Maulana Khabeer Azad, Dr.Munawar Chand (Hindu) Dr.Ruyhia Muddfi ( Bahai Community) Dr.Kanwal Feroze and other were the speaker.

21st Sept, 2006: Children Peace Walk and Education Seminar was arranged wherein children from St. Peter Cambridge school and Daffodils Gulberg-Lahore took an enthusiastic part. Also Interfaith Peace Mushara and Seminar were held, Dr.Kanwal Feroze presided over the event.

I am also working with Fr. Nadeem Francis for Promoting Inter-religious Dialogue for Peace.

Our Organization is invited by Muslims, Hindus, Sikh communities on their festivals. The Chief Minister and the Governor of Punjab have been very gracious in extending to us the invitations on a number of occasions.

We are working on a special project to promote Peace, Peace Pole Plantation. May Peace Prevail on Earth? So we planted many Peace Pole with URI-MCC in the prominent place especially at Minar-E-Pakistan Lahore -Dar-Ul-Hikmat-Lahore, in many Schools and Christian Study center-Rawalpindi, Bishop Anthony Lobo was the Guest of honor.

International Event and Gold Medal

On 8th October-2006, Peace pole was dedicated in the loving memory of earth quake victims at Ayub Medical Complex and Teaching Hospital-Abottabad. It was an International event, honoured by the Chief Guest Sardar Idress, who is a Minister of Local Body and rep. of Chief Minister of Frontier province Pakistan, representatives of NGOs UNO, WHO, Catholic relief, Swiss Agency UNSSD, Doctors, Medical staff and Nursing staff Social worker and Peace Builder. On this occasion, I was awarded the Certificate and the Quadi-E-Azam Gold Medal. This event was organized by the Bright Future society-Lahore, Health & Care Center and other Org. Dr. Dominic was the Master of Ceremony.

Peace Award – 2006

On October 27, 2006, in a function arranged at Al-Hamra Art Council Lahore, I was awarded Peace Award 2006 by the Hallelujah Evangelistic Association of Pakistan. It was an event marked for its glory.

The World Peace Society always address me a PEACE AMBASSADOR.

The United Religions Initiative address me as Interfaith Peace Leader

I am also on the net work of US Consulate Lahore. They invited me on special discussion of Interfaith Peace & Harmony.

My reports are also Published/Printed in the International Peace Media i.e. reflecting our beloved Pakistan and Christian community are always appreciated and acknowledged. International Peace Day reports are contently published since 2003 on UN, URI & WPPS website and also in local news media and Christian Magazine. We always involved the other organization in the working and event programmes and prefer to work in the grassroots level as voluntarily with our own contribution and we do not have any donor.

The Regional Coordinator for Asia Fr. James Channan OP, assigned me an other responsibilities to assist URI-MCC Pakistan as “Executive Secretary” of URI Pakistan since April 2007.

UNITED NATIONS- DPI/NGO CONFERENCE.

In September 2007 I attended the UN Conference, high level dialogue committee meeting and celebrated the International Day of Peace on 21st. Sep.2007 at the United Nations –New York USA. It was great honor for me I represent URI-Pakistan. Amazing experiences and meeting the world class leader in the United Nations and present the Peace activities report of Pakistan.

URI ASIA REGIONAL ASSEMBLY NEW DELHI-INDIA

In November 2007 attended the URI Asia Regional New Delhi-India. Meet the Interfaith Peace Leader around the world and interaction about the Peace building in Asia was a wonderful experience.

PEACE AWARD 2007

On 8th December 2007 The National Council for Interfaith Dialogue-Pakistan
Awarded Peace Award 2007. The Consulate of German-Islamabad and Mr. Agha Kamal, Senator Government of Pakistan present this award in interfaith gathering at Lahore.

There is great need for Peace. Violence has different expressions: armed conflicts, hunger, injustice, discrimination, destruction of the environment, violation of Human Rights, ignorance and others. Let us join hand in the burning issues and struggle for healing with more dedication in 2008.
