About Me   About Me
Christopher Eng is a second year student of the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College. He plans on declaring a major in English as well as Human Rights & International Law.

As a native-born New Yorker, Christopher enrolled into The New York Chinese School in Chinatown at the age of three. Through his fourteen years of Chinese education, he developed a passionate interest for his language and its distinctive culture. Graduating at the top of the class and subsequently departing from the school, Christopher was grateful to be able to return to Chinatown to study the impact of 9/11 on Chinatown businesses and associations through the CHC Seminar II. Now being proficient in Cantonese and traditional Chinese characters, Christopher is utilizing his college career to become fluent in Mandarin and gain knowledge in writing simplified Chinese. He plans to make use of his Chinese knowledge to give back to the Chinese community in the future.

In 2006, he also graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School, where he majored in Social Socience research and conducted an original study. During high school, his was an integral part of the Mock Trial Team. The three years had a profound impact on him, causing him to develop a keen interest in law. Working with lawyers and judges to write and deliver all trial materials have also fostered his analytical writing and public speaking skills.

Now at Hunter College, Christopher serves on the Undergraduate Student Government and the Student Ambassador Program. Having served as a sophomore senator, he hopes to help improve Hunter even more as a College Association member this coming year. He will work hard, making the best of his resources to bring the prestige to Hunter that it deserves.

Outside of Hunter, Christopher is honored to gain experiences from meaningful not-for-profit organizations that stress the importance of the advocacy for youth involvement. Through his one year with The American Red Cross in Greater New York as a Youth Council Coordinator, he has realized the significant contribution of youth volunteerism to humanitarian service. His experience there allowed him to foster his business etiquette, and more importantly, his event planning skills. Aside from designing a new youth initiative there, he also coordinated the First Annual Youth Leadership Conference. The conference's theme, "Delivering Hope at Hoem and Around the World," underscores the strong potential of youth as being the leaders of addressing and effecting changes for global issues in both the domestic and international arenas.

CUNY Honors and New York City offers a rich array of opportunities. Throughout his college career, Christopher will continue to explore the field of human rights through a variety of internship and volunteer experiences. After college, he will be attending law school. Christopher plans on pursuing a career in law and not-for-profit organizations.
