About Me |
I am a UN online volunteer who carry out research work for different organisatins online through the United Nations Online Volunteer site.
After my college education I joined a community based organization known as Ruiru Aids Awareness Group (RAAG) where I volunteered and worked as a social worker with the duty of washing, feeding and giving ARVs to the most affected and neglected PLWHA and counseling the members of the family with such a patient on the ways to nurse the sick and best food to feed them.
While working at (RAAG) I became aware of my purpose and obligation to help build a community where human dignity and respect prevailed, I initiated an income generating project through our organization MCDF (Muthaa Community Development Foundation)where people affected and infected would make and sell artifacts (beads ornaments, carvings and paintings) to the rest of the community. By the rest buying, they would economically promote their work and accept them back in the community as resourceful people. I have also traveled extensively around my nation and neighboring counties such as Tanzania, Burundi and Uganda campaigning for responsible sexual lifestyle among the youths in order to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS among them and also showing video of people living positively.
These projects have been highly appreciated by the members of the community and the income generating project was nominated for Global Village Market Place Booth No. 19 during the XVI International AIDS Conference Toronto 2006.
I am a founder of the Muthaa Community Development Foundation.
Under the organization, we want to come up with a Community Resource Centre in one of the People settlement(Slum) in Nairobi the capital city of Kenya.
Being the 2007 Kenya's National Focal Point, i hope to work hand in hand with the Kenya's GYCA members in prevention measures in the community.
