Hello! I'm a trainee broadcast journalist, studying at City University in London.
I have a degree in social anthropology from the London School of Ecnomics (LSE). Got that in 2006 and then spent a year working as general secretary of LSE Students' Union (LSE SU), trying to keep 8,000+ students happy!
Students have notoriously long summer holidays, so I help (kind of) keep London's young people busy each summer as a trustee of Tower Hamlets Summer University (THSU), an educational charity that runs free courses (on anything from digital imaging to tennis) for 11-25-year-olds each year. THSU's a youth participation model that we're hoping will be replicated by other countries.
In November 2004 I travelled to Rotterdam to represent the UK at the Netherlands' EU presidency youth event - where I discovered that in some European countries you're still regarded as a "young person" even when you're 30 (so I'm moving when I hit 26)!
