Country Project Coordinator and
a founder member of Network for Adolescent and Youth of Africa (NAYA) in October 2001
Possessing a wide and strong knowledge base on adolescent reproductive health advocacy for Seven years together with good teamwork and management skills, which requires good judgment, and analytical, enquiring mind, powers of leadership, mobilization, internet research skills and ability to infuse and integrate emerging sexual reproductive health issues into programme implementation.
I hold strong collaborative, mobilization and networking skills that has seen a tremendous membership upsurge in Network for Adolescent and Youth of Africa (NAYA)-Kenya Chapter from 15 youth serving organisations to 30 youth serving organisations, initiated e-exchange programme bringing on board 70 individual e-members and 6 e-organisations.
I have an expertise in proposal writing, accounting, report writing and editing skills. During the second Africa Sexuality International Conference on Sexual Health and Rights, I served both as a session rapporteur and a chair leading a delegation of 30 participants to children and gender recovery centre 3 kilometres from the training venue . Also served as Straight Talk newspaper Sub-editor and District Coordinator.
I accrue a wealth of experience in adolescent sexuality, advocacy and gender mainstreaming into programme planning and management and excellent communication skills. I have narrowed the gender gap in NAYA Kenya from 30/70 to 51/49 for male and female respectively.
I am a good community mobilized, with strong facilitation and communication skills, has been an asset in disseminating policies and guidelines on adolescent reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. Identifying issues and enhancing harmony between youth-adult partnership is another skill.
My involvement in community sensitization and youth empowerment with be at a hall mark with the realization of the creation of 210 youth empowerment centres by the government and like minded stake holders
With a visionary leadership and team work spirit, I am leading and merging different youth leaders and professionals with divergent personality backgrounds towards a common goal. This saw the drafting of NAYA Kenya Strategic Plan- 2007 to 2010. Leadership requires transparency and vision: transparency to inspire confidence and vision to be looked upon for inspiration
In terms of personality, I can best be described as open, gregarious, straight forward, ambitious and enthusiastic. I see a big picture and develop trends from pieces of information and still I can effectively operate at a very fine level of detail. I am intellectually curious and thrive on challenges and new appointments
Transferable skills include:

♀Writing a great position paper, talking points and lobbying letters for advocacy
♀ Domestication of national youth and adolescent development policies into programme management
♀ Gender mainstreaming into project planning and management
♀ Accounting and financial management skills
♀ Political lobbying and advocacy due to good rapport with National Coordinating Agency for Population and Development-an agency coordinating population issues in Kenya.
Prior to current appointment, I served Kenya Association of Professional Counselors -Straight Talk project as a District Coordinator from 2001 – 2006 in charge of expansion of Straight Talk Clubs in secondary schools geared towards behaviour change, life skills education and capacity building development.
I firmly serve the society to contribute to the improvement of quality of life for children, adolescent, youth and women by promoting teamwork at all levels to make a difference as part of initiatives towards achieving Millennium Development Goals by 2015 and Kenya’s vision 2030.
Special interest is in the areas of teaching, Sexual Reproductive Health advocacy, HIV/AIDS Education, youth participation and involvement in decision making, mainstreaming gender into planning and development, women participation and empowerment.
