Assalamu Alykum - Peace be upon you all:
Every year i discover new things that interest me and that im deeply passionate about. The beginning of every journey i take starts with a question im curious to find an answer for, and the main question i carry with me in every step is, who am i? Do we all really know how to answer this question? my passions in life are knowledge and self discovery. I love to know about different religions, beliefs, and identities. Above all, i love to communicate with people rather than know about a certain nation or group of people from a book because it is always someone else's perception and interpretation of the so called "reality."
The more I get involved in various activities, the more I become aware of life's different colors and shapes. what I’m trying to say is that participation and action (change) broadens one's perspective, opens one's eyes and mind to wonderful sites and images that can be blocked through a binary division of reality (ignorance, restrictions, traditions, etc).
To answer your question about my nationality:
I have come to realize that it doesn’t matter at all from where I am.
See, my philosophy in life is that Allah almighty created earth without dividing it into different countries and setting boundaries to them and I think there is a reason for that. Unfortunately, these boundaries are not only physical ones but in our subconscious mind they are becoming social ones too. As soon as you mention your nationality to anyone there is an image photographed in the other person’s mind.
For me, I’d rather belong to a cause or a belief rather than a piece of land. Come to think about all counties are pieces of lands given different names. I consider myself as a world citizen.
One more thing, please don’t associate what I have written to being an Arab or Muslim, my opinions reflect only myself. It is true that I am greatly inspired by the belief I have chosen for myself and that is ISLAM but also I am only a human being characterized as many are for being imperfect and subject to corruption. And my religion is not subject to that. And Allah knows best :)
