Allo allo all!
What an honour to be part of this....hmm optimistic globalization trend!
I have Bachelors and Masters degrees Iin Cultural Anthropology/Development Studies obtained from the University of Leiden in The Netherlands. I have an interst in Transitional Justice, Peace Education, Women and Violence and Gender Equality and Equity. I have lived in Kenya, Zambia and Uganda before i found myself in the Netherlands. I guess i am more of a world citizen than Somali!
I am committed to not only the idea but the reality of an Africa that is able to transcend famine, war, disease, dictators, incompetent and corrupt "leaders" and every other plague to become what all those who fought for her independence dreamed she could be. I don't expect it to happen in my lifetime but I hope to contribute to the process.
As a hobby i write poetry and short strories. I have published some of my songs. I am, furthermore, invloved in projects that are meant to empower the less privileged in Europe (refugee children, so called 'illegals', the homeless). I enjoy bringing a smile to a child's face and help boosting up his/her self-esteem. That is the most wondefull thing that one can deo for another humanbeing.
I am working as a postdoccer trainee program officer Women and Violence with Cordaid in the Hague. Cordaid has just recently started a program devoted to dealing with women and vioelce in the world. I am glad to be part of that program.
I am also peace activist affiliated with the United Network of Young peacebuilders (www.unoy.org). I am also working for several human rights organisations as a consultant, trainer and translator-see link.
