About Me

Have moved to Kingston. Ontario, Canada and am working at a sweet little cafe and worker's cooperative as a cook. Am also volunteering with an environmental/energy cooperative and am awaiting funding to be the Sustainable Transportation Coordinator. My work in this area is more fitting to my degree in Environmental Studies/ Native Studies as well as with my interest in community work and community 'development' (that scary word). Have done a bit of traveling, mostly due to a history of family movement. The last few years I have spent more time doing internships and stuff of that kind in different communities in Canada, Panama, and Thailand and learning a bit of language and a lot that goes along with that.
I am greatly interested in bridging the gap between different views of 'sustainability', and 'environmental management'. Sharing ideas globally and between different cultures is essential to a healthy environment...and a healthy human being. We overlook our connections- to the earth, ourselves, and everything surrounding us. This is making us unhealthy. We need only to look at rising cancer rates, chronic health problems and the poisons that we daily create to make the connections. There are many solutions that exist to these problems we create we need to search these out. We need to build these bridges and we need to do it at a local level ( I mean if you don't understand your own neighbourhood, who will?). We need a better balance -economically, socially, and physically. This is where my interest in social change comes in, as well as my interest in manythings political. Because the personal is political. And as much as we hate it, the public politic affects your person.
Am spending my fun time with Spanish classes and with puppeteering in K-town. Interested in activism, social change, and working toward a global balance. Enjoy a beer on the odd warm sunny afternoon... coffee in the morning. Late sleeper ;P
