About Me   About Me
I completed my final year at University in London in June 2005, reading a degree in Politics with Law and joined Corporate Culture in October 2005. I have been active in youth participation and engagement all my life in one way or another. I chaired Bournemouth Youth Council for two years before I moved to London. From February 2004 until November 2005 I served as Co-Chairman of UK Youth Parliament. I successfully oversaw a comprehensive independent review process and generated significant investment from business. I continue to serve as a trustee and non-executive director of the charity, which I have done since September 2003 after serving two years as the Member of Youth Parliament for Bournemouth.

I represented UKYP on the Cross Government Steering Group for the online portal, need2know.co.uk, for young people at the Department for Education and Skills. In April 2003, I joined The National Youth Agency's Active Involvement Team to work on projects which include the Hear by Right standards, 14-19 reform with DfES and training Civil Servants in engaging with young people. I now work as a consultant to The National Youth Agency.

I spent a lot of time over the past two years as a member of the Russell Commission Youth Advisory Board, set up by the Chancellor and Home Secretary, which published its recommendations in March 2005 on a new national framework for youth action and engagement. In December 2005 I was involved in interviewing for the CEO and Board of the new Implementation Body and have provided ongoing advice to the Home Office on this initiative.

I've volunteered with St. John Ambulance for over 15 years, in a variety of roles, which has provided me with some amazing friends and development opportunities.

In my spare time (!) I enjoy spending time with my friends, walking my dog (a Shetland Sheep Dog), cycling, watching cricket and playing various sports.
