About Me   About Me
Didmus lives his life to see a better world for all the people. While in Zambia he worked with youth organizations that have advocated and lobbied for human rights and environmental protection. He served on the disciplinary committee of the National Youth organization called Youth Advocacy and Lobby Network(YALON) sponsored by MS_Zambia a Danish NGO. He was one of the founder members of InterAct Zambia which is The National Lead Agency for Global Youth Service Day(GYSD) in the same country. He also chair a committee for Southern Africa Youth Council. Among international conferences that he has attended includes the Millennium Conference on the rehabilitation of orphanage centers in Malawi. Currently he is The International Coordinator for The Global Vision 2022 which is an organization advocating for roles and responcibilities of the Global Youth in the fight against any acts of evil and terror that jeopardizes the very basics of human rights. This summer of 2002 Didmus has been invited by The Institute for Humane Studies to attend a summer seminar in New Jersy at the University of Princeton. Among the subjects to be discussed will be Liberty and Libertarian Ideas. He is a Zambian born national living in the USA. United we Stand Again. As an anti terrorist, Didmus has been too concerned about the loopholes still un attended to for terrorist attacks. He has, since the IHS summer seminar at university of Princeton, always refered to Tracy Wells' observation on the issue of security in the country. For those wanting to share Tracy's remarks take your time to read the following and at the end you should be able to make a difference concerning security around you and your neighborhood.

This is definitely very scary. I heard a piece on NPR the other day about how people are all worried about it. Ideally you'd think it wouldn't be so bad (I have an uncle who'd support this tooth and nail because he'd say he has nothing to worry about because HE's not doing anything wrong), but the problem lies in the fact that the government having this kind of information about citizens could lead to ENORMOUS exploitation...it's that whole "scary government conspiracy movie" type thing. And what's to stop your neighbor, who's off because your dog destroyed their garden or something, from just reporting you to the government as a possible terrorist??? Yeah, this is definitely very disturbing.

Also disturbing is the Bush administration's restrictions on the Freedom of Information Act. As a journalist, this disturbs me greatly. It's really terrifying what they can get away with in the name of "national security"--and yet the news media broadcasts stories every night about how there are holes in airport security, even telling everyone which ones are the most slack...and all sorts of other stuff that I somehow think WOULD be withheld if you REALLY cared about terrorists not getting information. Seems there was a recent story about "the US govt doesn't think it would be able to handle another terrorist attack" or something. and I was going, UM, OK, that's REAL smart--just TELL all the terrorists that. But yet they have no problem restricting citizens from information they have legal rights to that may not even have anything to do with security issues. VERY fishy, if you ask me.

Anyway, thanks for sending the article. It's kinda scary how things like this can just get passed into law and no one really pays any attention and then one day--oh, whoops, it's 1984! I know that's a bit of an exaggeration, but seriously--I'm glad there are SOME watchdog groups that at least TRY to expose the sketchy things the government does...

Hope you all are enjoying your summer...
Tracy
