KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Dr. Emtiaz Hassoona, has over 10 years of experience in dealing with school children through her work as a pediatric ophthalmologist in clinics of governmental school health insurance, and as a head of governmental hospital infection control team, applying both national preventive and curative programs concerning health and environmental education. This work was the motive for her sustainable initiative to start -as head of a team of volunteers in the Friends of Environment Association in Alexandria FEA– a program for environmental education in schools through a protocol between FEA and the Egyptian Ministry of Education since 1999. During this period she gained professional experience in communication skills, technical consultation, project management, capacity building and youth empowerment, as well as environmental education. Her work in Egyptian governmental sector since 1980. Her traveling abroad, her interaction with international/ local NGOs and multinational cooperation, her participation in international youth cultural activities in Serbia during the Balkan war her hosting to a Danish, Tunisian, German and argentine youth representatives from January 2006 to October 2006 was to assure the importance of real cultural dialogue to alleviate conflicts and solve global problems including environment, sustainable development as a solution of poverty. Her in-depth knowledge of issues related to teachers capacity building, school age environmental education, local community participation in education reform, environmental justice, civil society, human rights, socioeconomic impact assessment, and project evaluation., allowed her to be a member of a number of professional and academic associations. She has designed, contributed to, and participated in a number of regional and international conferences and workshops and was given awards for social, professional and academic activities.
