About Me |
I am Emma Felix Ngwu. I was born on 7TH August, 1981. I hail from Abanwan Erei in Biase L.G.A of Cross River State and work with Centre for Healthworks, Development and Research (CHEDRES), a Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2000. CHEDRES was borne out of the need to address women’s reproductive health problems in the disadvantaged riverside communities where access of healthcare services is a challenge due to the difficult terrain, community dynamic and beliefs, harmful traditional practices and governments’ presence is very limited.
My goal is promoting family health especially women’s health and rights in disadvantaged communities as well as community development. My aspiration is to be a gender and women’s health specialist. I hold a Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Calabar.
I have over 8 years experience in development work at National level. My work is centered on Advocacy, Research, Training, service delivery, providing managerial leadership for Maternal and Child Health program, managing contracts and providing support for field operations. I have an extensive field supervisory experiences that include oversight for the implementation of Reproductive Health Projects especially the Safe motherhood, Collaborative TB/HIV/AIDS and Adolescents sexual and Reproductive Health and rights projects of CHEDRES. I work seasonally with UNICEF as a master trainer for volunteer corps members as Peer Educator trainer under their UNICEF/NYSC adolescents Sexual and reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS prevention and care project. Also as a community Educator trainer under for CHEDRES/SFH Improving Reproductive Health in Nigeria (IRHIN) project.
I have obtained several trainings in Leadership in the Maternal and Child Health and Young People’s sexual and Reproductive Health, Organizational Development, Project Design and Management and M& E.
I have utilized my extensive experience, knowledge and skills to present program work and negotiate with donors and other organizations, for mobilization of funding and technical resources to strengthen programs and address the needs of women, youth, children and PLWHA in the hard to reach and conflict prone communities.
