About Me |
A little bit about myself. I am Greek and I teach English as a second language for some years now. One of my classes took part in the Junior Summit 98, and that's how I got to know about so many exciting projects like the Junior Journal, Nation1, and in time, TakingITGlobal!
I have worked in various places in Greece, always trying to get my students, either in primary or secondary school, involved in a variety of projects concerning the use of IT and youth empowerment, when possible. Most of the areas I have worked so far are rural, and not very advanced technologically. Most of my schools had no computer to begin with. I am happy to say now, though, that this has started to change, even really small out of the way schools acquire new equipment.
I am really interested in environmental projects, and always try to get involved in as many as I can. I have recently witnessed the Caretta caretta population near where I live nesting and laying eggs, a thrilling experience, together with the volunteers of Archelon, the Greek Society for the Protection of Sea Turtles (http://www.archelon.gr).
At the moment, I am teaching at the Junior high School in Ancient Olympia, and try to incorporate as many environmental projects in my classes as possible.
My interests also lie in literature. I have an MPhil from the University of Stirling in Scotland in Modern English Poetry, and I am also currently a PhD student at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
