About Me |
During a sixteen year artistic career, Jon Mitton has explored every medium in his quest to express the irrational, the random and the chaotic.
His art is driven by a desire to challenge the linearity of patriarchal Western culture.
Art has become commerce. We consume polished, packaged art products as capitalism consumes us.
Jon Mitton's work tells us to reject shrink-wrapped art and become part of the artistic process.
His paintings are created through the rapid manipulation of paint on canvas. They remain unfinished, inviting viewers to complete the works with their eyes, to share in the process of creation.
The Artlamps are the ramdom collection of objects collected into uniform boxes made accessible through 'lampage', (the application of lamps to artwork.)
This is the germination of Irrealism.
