About Me |
A recent graduate of Computer Systems Engineering from Brunel University (UK); born in Afghanistan and hence carry great deal of love for my homeland.
I have a passion for social/voluntary activities. Utilising my time as a student, I ceased every opportunity to get involved in something. Some of my involvements and activities are listed here.
In 2004 I established a Brunel Afghan Students society. I have severed as the Treasurer for two years and as the the president for a year.
I also established the Afghan Students Association UK (ASAUK). The aims of ASAUK are to promote education amongst Afghans and to improve employment prospects of Afghans. I stepped down as the president in July 2008 leaving the new committee with over 850 members nationwide, a one hour a week radio web-cast group, a mentoring team and a project to raise money for Afghan universities, to carry forward. (To find out more about ASAUK, please visit its website www.asa4uk.com).
After graduating, I moved to Afghanistan to do my bit in the reconstruction of our war torn country.
In my opinion for Afghans to be successful, they need to stop depending on others. We need to make use of the resources and the knowledge that we share amongst us to rebuild our country.
Afghans have a past they are proud of and my dream is to have a future that we can be proud of too.
I also believe that different cultures properly integrated together gives a society the ingredients it needs to stay healthy.
