About Me   About Me
I am Musa Ansumana Soko by name, a Sierra Leonean born on 24th September 1985 in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone.
I attended both secondary and high schools in Freetown, including my tertiary career.
I have been involved in the field of activism since my school days. I first became interested in the activism because of a competition I entered for that was organized by the UNAMSL Peace Keeping forces in Sierra Leone. Having won these competitions, I was aired all over the country. In addition, very fortunately for me, an organization known as the PeaceLinks Education Organ decided to let me be as part of the organization since 2003.
I was captured by the rebels in 1998 during the August student protest by sierra Leonean students against the ugly situation. My condition was however turned to a topsy-turvy situation.
It was because of that that I even decided to infiltrate and delve more in the fields of activism and advocacy in my country, Sierra Leone. And I am still on the advocacy. But this time, I am strongly advocating for young people generally in the country through the initiative called the Youth Partnership for Peace and Development in Sierra Leone thereby serving as the Executive Coordinator.
In the year 2007, I pioneered through the Coalition for Justice and Accountability to show communities a video of the trials of the former Liberian President Charles Taylor throughout communities in the western area.
Also I was part of the drafting of the national youth policy for Sierra Leone and the juvenile justice strategy workshop at the British council.

The Honorable Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s affairs as a youth ambassador committed towards serving young peopled in the country, awarded me in 2005. The Children’s Forum Network through the Ministry organized this ceremony.

I have therefore worked for and volunteered fore several organizations in my country at both international and national levels.

In February 2007, I have as a Research Assistant with a the Australian National University through Dr. Augustine Park in the finding of children affected and those that took part in the war as well as their integration in to societies after the war. That is talking of traditional and the modern forms of integration.

I was an IT Instrutor and teacher at the Educational Centre for the Blind and the Visually Impaired with the use of computers through a screen reading software called JAWS.
Like I said earlier, I have been part of so many organizations and initiatives at both local, regional, continental and international levels. To name but a few, the Global Call to Action Against Poverty- Sierra Leone, the African Union ECOSOCC, UNCTAD, UNDP Africa, UN Millennium Campign, National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, Democracy Sierra Leone, the Freedom of Information Coalition, Campaign for Just Mining.

On the 19th April 2007, I headed a delegation to the G8 Embassies in Sierra Leone to submit the letter of the International Commemoration Day so that each and every G8 country will be reminded to fulfill their promises made to poor countries.
Recently, I represented Sierra Leone in the West Africa Global call to action against poverty (GCAP) Planning Meeting in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in January 2008.
I am currently an observer for the 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Sierra Leone.
I am also accredited to the 12th Session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in Ghana 2008 and also a delegate to the 4th World Youth Congress in Quebec 2008.

Not all about me could ever be said done, so I am this point ending by expressing my interested as a young and foresighted Sierra Leone. I really love learning new ideas as well as influencing those ideas into other people in my country

I was an election observer for the 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Sierra Leone and also a Media Representative to Democracy Sierra Leone through the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI).

Today, I am the President of the People-To-People-International USA Chapter PTPI in Sierra Leone.
I am youth representative at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development to be held in Accra, Ghana (17-25) April 2008.
I am still hoping to do more by the grace of GOD........
