Ayesha's current city of residence is Peshawar, in the province of the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. She did her matriculation at Presentation Convent School and finished her college education with an overall third position in her province. At present, Ayesha is a graduate in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Her academic career has been superb throughout, but she wishes to increase her participation in volunteer activities related to awareness of ICT among young people.
She participated in ITU Youth Forum 2002, Hong Kong representing Pakistan. She presented a paper addressing the theme of "Helping the World Communicate" at the World Telecom day in May 2003 which was attended by the Information Technology & Telecom Minister of Pakistan. Her presentation was very well-regarded, but Ayesha credits her increased awareness and perception in this regard to the seminars she attended as part of the ITU Youth Forum.
Selected as one of the 5 Telecom Asia Youth Forum Panelists for the PTC’04 (Pacific Telecommunication council) that was held on 11-14 January 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii (www.ptc.org/PTC2004). The presentations were about the projects, activities, and other initiatives resulting from the ITU Telecom Asia 2002 youth forum fellowships.
Under Toda Institute’s umbrella a research Peace Project has been undertaken. Name of the project is Human Network Peace and ICTs.One of the thirteen young researchers who are analyzing youth perceptions about the involvement of communication technologies for the promotion of peace and tolerance.
A panelist at World Public Forum’s Third general meeting with the theme “Dialogue of Civilizations” at Rhodes Island, Greece held on 5th-9th October 2005. The topic of discussion was “ICTs in generational form leading to a better world”.
Selected by ITU/BDT Youth Program to represent the ITU Asian-Pacific Youth Forum Alumni in an event “Youth Implementing WSIS Action Plan” at the Second Phase of WSIS at Tunis on 16th –18th Nov 2005. The presentation was about the youth activities to bridge the digital gap in the Asian-Pacific region.
Ayesha now plans to make other people more aware of the importance of ICTs and its beneficial use. She intends to gain experience so that she herself can gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of these in order to assist others and make universal access to such technologies a reality in Pakistan.
