 About Me |
My name is Mark Okowa, the Country Project Coordinator for a regional project being implemented by Environment Liaison Center International (ELCI), an International NGO with its headquarters in Nairobi Kenya.
I am the Country project coordinator, for a regional (East African) project whose purpose is Increasing social cohesion and equity to address HIV/AIDS and Fragile Livelihoods within the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. I am a Kabissa Web projects steering committee member with
responsibilities of assisting the Kabissa team in setting priorities, reviewing the work, and testing the new services they will be providing as a result of their new project, titled: "African Voices on the Internet". I am also the GKP 2005 Youth and ICT award winner. As a result, I was offered a full scholarship to participate in the 2005 World Summit of the Information Society WSIS in Tunis where our awards were presented. Am the former Program Coordinator, of the Advocacy Behavior Change and Communication (ABC) Kenya, formed in February 2002 to address the Poverty situation, Poor Governance, Environmental Conservation & Management, and the HIV/AIDS prevalence within the lake Victoria Region of western Kenya. I now serve in the advisory board of (ABC) Kenya, and looks forward to assisting the current management team to improve the programs and activities of the organization. log on to http://www.abckenya.org
