About Me

Dr. Om Lakhani is a doctor, writer and a student activist. He is currently working as an Intern doctor in SSG hospital, Vadodara.

Dr. Om Lakhani started early and wrote a novel at the age of 12. Since then he has never looked back. At 16, he became one of the youngest Microsoft certified professional of Gujarat. He was employed with one of the first local intranet of Vadodara, thatsvadodara.com as content writer.

Om started his own online internet firm creativejuice.org when he was 18. The site provided creative content for independent websites.

Om, was elected as the Head boy of his school Anadalaya. He topped his class in class 12th with a score average of 95.5 % in CBSE class 12 Examination and stood 8th in the state. He cleared his premedical test the same year with an all India rank of 326 and was offered a place in Baroda Medical College , MS University to study medicine.

Om Lakhani has keen interest in research in the field of “Smoking and Health”. He submitted a thesis on a similar subject for his school project in which he exposed many myths about smoking in rural areas. He also submitted a thesis on Fingerprints in which he analyzed the similarities and differences in fingerprints of identical and non identical twins and analyzed if a family link exists in fingerprints. His article “Fingerprints: Are they at your fingertips” is widely read.

With Medical college, Baroda, Om Lakhani showed exceptional qualities in both the creative field and student leadership. He anchored more than 15-20 shows during his period in the college. He was selected as the Literature secretary for Vibrant 2004 during which he introduced new shows like the Personality contest apart from putting up a show of some extraordinary bouquet of literature events.

His Poem “Mother’s Tears” about the riots in Gujarat has received much acclaim and was published in numerous forums , websites and magazines.

Om Lakhani worked as an anchor for the 7th International Conference on Health and Human Rights held in Vadodara on 7th Feburary 2005 organized by International Society for Health and Human rights and hosted by Indu Health Research Foundation IHRF.

Apart from winning various prizes for debates and elocutions during the school period, Om Lakhani was awarded the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s trophy for Extempore during Josh 2006 conducted by MS University. He stood second in the extempore competition conducted during Pulse 2005 at AIIMS in New Delhi. Om Lakhani was selected to present his speech in the Regional round of Times public speaking in Vadodara.

Dr. Om was the editor of the Official Journal of Medical college Baroda called ‘Plexus’ for a period of 1 year. He was also founding member of the Literature society of Medical College, Baroda.

Dr. Om actively participated in the student protest during the anti-reservation movement throughout the country. He was a member of the Vadodara chapter of Youth for Equality. He also ran a website called barodafights.blospot.com during that period. He also runs highly successful forms on orkut called “Debate India” and “Parliament of Orkut”.

Dr. Om Lakhani topped his class in the final year for MBBS with Gold Medals in Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology. He earlier topped his class in the subjects of Physiology and Otolaryngology.

Currently he is working on his most ambitious novel called “The System” apart from working as an intern doctor. He plans to take up residency in Internal medicine at SSG hospital, Vadodara next year.
