Andrew worked with many non-profits before and turned to the internet to teach former child fighters and war affected youth to use the internet and other new technologies to find reconciliation and peaceful solutions to conflict. His words of admonition to all the youth and children is that "Security comes not from the end of a gun, but from shared values and responsibilities to each other". He has maintained and stood by his slogan: "just as it takes act of war to make war, it takes act of peace to make peace". Andrew's effort have had a profound effect on the minds of young people around the world from sierra Leone to Canada, to Cambodia, to Afghanistan. His efforts have also attracted the UN towards his project as a model to be used in countries affected by war. Andrew has traveled world-wide from Beijing to halifax to share his vision of using information technology amongst children and war scarred youth. Andrew's ability as a communicator has gathered multiple awards, citations and bursaries for his internet based innovations. This includes the Cable and Wireless Childnet Award in UK 2003, and the New York based Listen Up Beyond Borders Film Awards for Personal stories from a small planet. During his interview by Tracy Logan, presenter Go Digital Technology, at the BBC studio in London, he talked about 'former child fighters turning from guns to PC'. Till date, he continues to lead workshops worldwide, from Beijing to Halifax, to share his vision of Peace Building amongst children and war scarred youth. Andrew has also held numerous national workshops and discussions on radio and TV programs involving ministers and other senior government officers in Sierra Leone. He has spoken about the use of ICt for children and youth on such media as Guest of studio BBC in London, Tele-Quebec Canada and the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Television. He chaired the three days Interactive Forum in Sierra Leone, following the run-off to the World Summit on the information Society (WSIS) in Geneva 2003. As one of the Sierra Leone delegates at the WSIS in Geneva, Andrew was part of a high level panel discussing 'the use of ICT in post-war countries.' He was surmoned as Guest Speaker addressing over 500 High School students all over the world at the XXXVI Annual Session of the Hague International Model United Nations THIMUN on children’s rights and the Optional Protocol, in the Netherlands. His vision for Sierra Leone is to help improve post-war peace and reconciliation, help design curricula and teaching materials to support education for peace building and human rights, conflict resolution to encourage all countries seeking to building peace. He was one of 12 dynamic intellectuals choosen from a variety of disciplines to help change the world. As a Sauvé Fellow, admitted to McGill University in Canada for 9 months in the Sauvé Scholar's program for 2004/2005 academic year, he will be coming up with a striking publication in multimedia that will make a difference to the lives of many youth around the world. Andrew fell in love with creative writing from an early age, and poetry became part of his means to express the challenges of social injustices facing youth, and looks forward to his publications soon. Amongst his writings are My Teenage, Genderme Damns Me, August 18th shower, In Readiness for Peace. He has been contracted twice by the 'World Bank' 2006 in Washinton to produce short documentaries for the 2007 'Global World Development Report' that focus on the theme 'The Next Generation'. He was aslo contracted by Open Society Institute on his experiences of using technology in post conflict societies. Andrew was a delegate at the International Youth Film media hosted by Cleaveland High School, and namd the IRMAS International Youth Media Summit 21-30 July 2006 Los Angeles, CA, USA, Organized by Cleveland High School Presenters: Listen Up! and Learning for Life Founders: Audrey and Sydney Irmas Charitable Foundation and Health Net Co-founder and support: South Lanarkshire Council, Education Resources, Scotland IIYMS will bring teenagers from 26 countries together to do something about the seven issues that most impact their future: Racism, Poverty, Violence, Health, Environment, Women's Rights and Youth Empowerment. IIYMS is a yearly summit which brings teen filmmakers and teen advocates from around the world together to plan ways of inspiring others in their generation to shape the future through media and action. He was a speaker at the 1st ever 'World Ethics Forum Oxford, UK - April 2006. The Oxford University World Ethics Forum In April 2006. The Ethics Forum was a Joint Conference, focusing on issues of “Leadership, Ethics, and Integrity in Public Life.” This joint conference hosted The International Institute for Public Ethics (IIPE), The Global Integrity Alliance, and the World Bank took place at Keble College, University of Oxford, UK. The purpose of this conference was to convene officials and advisors to national, sub-national and international governments, business professionals, scholars, ethics practitioners, civil society activists, academics, and public officials to reflect, facilitate and support critical thinking about the praxis of public ethics, to expose applied lessons about democratic governance processes and to help rebuild a sustainable future for an ethics culture. From February 23rd to March 2nd 2007, at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates during Education Without Borders Conference Andrew was there as a Guest Speaker to showcase the use of educational technologies in capacitating youth emerging from wars. At Education Without Borders Conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Andrew talked to a gathering of students about his inititiative to global student initiatives. Present also were Nobel Laureates Muhammed Yunus and Rita Levi-Montalcini as well as notables such as tenor Placido Domingo and innovator Nicholas Negroponte (“One Laptop, One Child”), among others. Andrew was guest lecturer at the -campus-wide lectures at Kenyon College Ohio. Andrew spoke on the theme 'Children of the Crossfire. Andrew Greene spoke on the issue of child soldiers at nearby Nazarene University in Mount Vermon, Ohio. Andrew Benson Greene, an expert on the issue of Child Soldiers, was a key player at 'The Child Soldiers Simulation Exercise,' named "Exercise Prodigal Child." The program is led by (Ret) Lieutenant-General The Honourable Romeo Dallaire together with UNICEF Canada President and CEO Nigel Fisher. A tight and seasoned group of 55 participants from around the world from a variety of disciplines, two of whom are themselves former child soldiers, will explore this critical issue at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center in Ghana. Participants of the Child Soldiers Simulation Exercise are given scenarios for which they will develop realistic and plausible solutions to many of the issues related to the use of children as soldiers. The exercise takes place in a hypothetical African conflict zone.
