 About Me |
My name is Pemma. I grew up mainly in Ontario. I say "mainly" because I have also lived in England, South Korea, and rural Manitoba.
I am a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where I did my BSc. in Health Studies- essentially population health. I plan to eventually do my Masters in Public Health and specialize in health promotion (where health meets education).
I live in Toronto, and work part time as the HIV/AIDS Programme Advisor at TakingITGlobal. This past summer I worked on TIG's HIV/AIDS Youth Guide to Action (which you can now download!), and was part of the Toronto Youth Force Media Team, working on a documentary that showcased youth involvement at AIDS 2006. I am currently occupied with all kinds of exciting work following TIG's extensive involvement in the AIDS 2006 Conference.
My work-week is completed by the time that I spend at the Ontario Science Centre, where I teach school programs to students, all the way from kindergarten to grade 12! My favourite program to teach is the Challenger Space Simulation, where I take students on an educational team building mission to Mars or to the Moon (I even get to wear a space suit!). I also love to teach Science Investigators, which is basically like the show "CSI" for Junior Kindergartens.
When I am not working (which is, really, most of the time) I love spending time with my friends, and enjoying their company, stories, and laughter. I am also crazy about children's books and interesting illustrations. I have always loved to sing, and I enjoy performing with my friends Nate, Jess, and Sabrina.
