In my freetime I lead mini art projects with the children at my mom's school. I have taken part in a scheme called 'Paired Reading' which is where you help young children to improve their reading skills. I have achieved the Young Arts Leaders Award (YALA), where I planned, designed, led and evaluated an Arts project in my community. I recently completed a volunteer placement at the local Marie Curie Cancer Hospice, where I worked as a catering assistant. In May 2004, I became a Millennium Volunteer. MV is a Government Initiative which is designed to help 16-24 year olds to help benefit their community. In March 2005, I organised a Fashion Show which showcased my designs and involved youth in my community who have behavioural, social and emotional difficulties. I aimed to raise the awareness of these children and the contribution they have made to their community! In February 2005, I was nominated for Millennium Volunteer of the Year award which recognises the contributions and achievements of young people offer to their communities. Since my participation at the International Summer School 2005, India and the World Youth Congress 2005, Scotland...I have been thinking of ways of how to implement what ive learnt to educate my community.I decided to form a steering group which will raise the awareness of Fairtrade and also help make Solihull(town i live in) a Fairtrade town and as a result help achieve the MDG's! Interests: art, photography, music, children, travelling, activism, freedom of speech, psychology, fashion, vivienne westwood, japanese street fashion, animals, reading, museums, people of different cultures and ethnicities, fair trade, globalization, PEACE! Music: red hot chili peppers, bob marley, jack johnson, ben harper, beverley knight, the vines, the strokes, coldplay, razorlight, aerosmith, morcheeba, air, jamie cullum, t.rex, manic street preachers, hoobastank, the killers, the thrills, shea seger, damien rice, sean paul, shinedown, mishka...
