Statesmen Foundation, Inc.(sfi) This Foundation started in 1987 with the impress of an ideological tendency to help allot time for the development of youths in a particular locality. The power of communication and event that occurred in 1999 at the Obafemi Awolowo University, however brought the group to public light. After the demise of a member, Late Efe Epkede, a student of psychology, he group was able to pass he vision into a dream that has boomeranged to what is now regarded as the "sfi". Pioneer and founder, the Foundation's gradual strength has been via the network, which has been greatly influenced by the power information technology. We have been able to establish pocket groups in various countries and hope our representative will never let us down. Our only link together is our Conscience. I have held office with a board that has from time to time changed by virtue of choice from National adoption via E-mails. ACT projects facilitate the transformation of living conditions in African countries through networks of community development partnerships that empower members of the community and provide a basis for the entrenchment of democratic practices. The PACT-OAU initiative is directed at the Ile-Ife, Modakeke and other local communities that surround and host the Obafemi Awolowo University. It was established by ACT, with the collaborative support of the university administration. The success of this initiative owes much to the sustained interest, accessibility and facilitative support of the University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Roger Makanjuola and the Chairman, University Linkages office, Professor Adediran. The university has provided office space for the program within the university in recognition of the need for a neutral meeting ground for all members of the surrounding communities which have only recently emerged from a particularly devastating communal warfare. 10.Student World Assembly,Obafemi Awolowo University (SWA OAU) Chapter The Student World Assembly is a non-governmental, nonpartisan organization created to represent students globally. It provides a deliberative assembly where students around the world can exchange views, vote on global issues through online discussion forums and in annual international conventions, and translate these views into meaningful actions. True representative democracy offers a powerful instrument for addressing the vital social and political conditions that threaten our global future. The informed wishes of the people, conveyed through the collective voice of a democratic assembly, need to be heard in the decision- making processes. By giving students from the most remote to the more accessible institutions an equal voice, we are enabling all students to educate, participate and take action, and to begin thinking of themselves as global citizens. SWA endeavors to educate the world through its members. Every month, a chapter of the Student World Assembly highlights a Pressing Global Issue. Once approved by the Issues & Campaigns Committee, the general membership is provided with news reports, articles, and scholarly resources through the website. After reading about the issue, members are urged to engage in a dialogue with others on the online discussion forum. The purpose of the discussion forums is to educate and be educated, to hear and be heard, about the global issues that demand our immediate attention. We launched our chapter in October 23rd , 2004 with me as the pioneer president with an intention to make a point with history. Nigeria Internet Registration Association {NiRA} NiRA was founded following a directive by President Olusegun Obasanjo that all stakeholders in the Nigerian internet community should work together to promote the growth and development of Nigeria's online presence through the growing adoption of the country internet name, .ng TLD. The history of Internet registration in Nigeria dates back to early 90Õs from the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife when the university had contact with the Internet bodies from Italy. Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, while she was head of Computer Science Department at Yaba College of Technology, served as the first person of contact for the .ng domain name for many years. ISPAN, together with Nigeria Internet Group (NIG) and NITDA made efforts to sustain domain name registration in the country, after many years of inactiveness from majority of those who claimed to be at the forefront of Internet registration in Nigeria. For many years, Nigeria lost out in Internet registration because of various discordant interest groups who sought to gain control over the country top level domain name registration. The controversy, to a great extent, slowed down the transfer of the ÒTechnical Point of ContactÓ from Mr. Randy Bush of America to a Nigerian in Nigeria, a situation that gave Randy Bush the absolute power to play host to registration and control of all technical matters concerning .ng top level domain name. Only recently, two Nigerians, Mr. Sunday Folayan and Mr. Preye Itonyo, were appointed to assist with domain registration, thus complementing the technical functions which had been performed for several years by Randy Bush. Having realised that .ng TLD is a national identity, and cannot be overshadowed by an individual, President Olusegun Obasanjo intervened, a situation that led to the formation of NIRA in 2005. Subsequently, a series of stakeholders' fora were convened by various individuals, industry organisations and interest groups. At the last forum held on March 29, 2006, in Lagos, members collectively agreed to move forward with the implementation of Mr. President's mandate in the overall interest of promoting internet growth and development in the country. Over 2,000 domain names have been registered under the country top domain name .ng by the five active ISPs since the last meeting on March 29th, 2007, when the NIRA BOT was elected. The NIRA BOT members who were appointed at a stakeholders' forum comprise representatives of various industry organisations, interest groups and institutions representing the internet community in Nigeria. In February 2007, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registered the Association and was issued a Certificate of Incorporation of the Incorporated Trustees of NIRA dated February 9, 2007. May 1st, 2007 marked the formation of the Executive Board. I am a member of the Board of Trustee. 14. Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), a humanitarian non-governmental organization committed to saving lives and alleviating human suffering, was established by an act of parliament in 1960 and was recognized by the Movement in 1961. The National Society’s constitution was reviewed and revised in 1995 to make its structure and operations more relevant to its environment. The act establishing the society is currently under review, as are the rules and regulations, in an effort to inject more dynamism into its organizational structures. The NRCS is a member of the national emergency management agency (NEMA) and participates in the national environmental sanitation programme. The society also cooperates with the ministry of health on the expanded programme on immunization. The National Society cooperates with some UN bodies and international aid agencies including UNHCR, UNICEF, WHO and USAID. It has been the major operating partner of UNHCR in Nigeria since 1990 and runs a refugee camp in Oru, in Ogun State. All matters concerning urban refugees are also managed by the society. I joined this noble organization in 1986 and had my Basic, Advanced and Instructor's Course before becoming the The Commandant of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, NYSC Ikpoba Okha Detachment (2007/2008).
