 About Me |
I am a youth from Nepal. My special attention is in the field of HIV/AIDS, VAW, youth and advocacy.
I worked as a volunteer in Nava Kiran Plus for more than two years. The time I spent there is the most valuable of my lifetime. Whatever I learnt there is something I wouldn't have learnt anywhere else. For all the support and love I found there, I am very thankful to all of NKP. Am looking forward to be back again..
A short introduction of NKP:
Nava Kiran Plus (NKP) is a non-governmental organization established and run by and for PLWHA. It has its main office in Kathmandu, and more than 10 hospices in different parts of the country, including one in the capital. It has also established a children's care home KetaKeti Ashram in Budhanilkantha for children infected and affected by HIV, and is partners with Nava Kiran Rehabilitation Centre, a rehab facility for drug users. The President of the organization is Mr. Rajiv Kafle, who is also the President of NAP+N (National Association of People living with HIV/AIDS in Nepal) and a member of the CCM, and is one of the two founding members. NKP has always been in the frontline for every issues concerning care, treatment and human rights of PLWHA. NKP also publishes 'HIV Post', a monthly newsletter which covers local news, global developments and articles on HIV/AIDS, PLWHA and Intravenous Drug Users (IDUs). It is one of the main tools for advocacy and has played a major role in policy changes in the government's HIV/AIDS plan.
Recently, NKP with aid from Japanese Embassy, opened up Super Speciality Center for AIDS Care in the hills of Shivapuri, the first and only of its kind in SouthEast Asia.
