 About Me |
I will graduate in April 2009 with a Double Major in Journalism and Anthropology from Concordia University in Montreal, QC, Canada. While I have been an avid writer since (near) birth, over the past two years I have developed an unquenchable interest in human rights, with a focus on genocide and journalism in human rights, and development, with a growing interest in development economics. As journalist, I have freelanced for a variety of magazines and newspapers (online and print). I completed a five month journalism program at the Danish School of Journalism with hands on training in international reporting, risk reporting and online multimedia. My interest in human rights also motivated me to volunteer in Northern Uganda for two months and spend another two traveling across Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. I will be spending another two months in Uganda working with WOUGNET and assisting with an initiative called Citizen Journalism Africa. In October 2007, I founded a not for profit organization with the goal of bringing interesting and interactive human rights education to high schools around Montreal (check In Their Shoes out at www.intheirshoescanada.org).
