Im not quite sure how I came across TIG, I think it was just an accident. I looked through the website and was intrigued, so I joined - it was a blessing in disguise!!
I have lived in London all my life. My background is mixed, father - Sri Lankan, mother - Guyanese. I enjoy travelling and learning new things. I am interested in bettering my spoken Spanish
I have always been interested in international issues and am keen for more equality in the world - there is no need for anyone to be filthy rich and there is no excuse for the fact that there are so many poverty stricken people in this world! It is not just poverty that is a problem, in the western world we have plenty of wealth, but the lack of community creates many social problems - what kind of society produces kids that all want to grow up to sell drugs??.In this aspect, I would say I am a leftist, though I would say my general political views are unclassifiable.
Through travelling, I have met too many what I would call hippies - upper/middle class people, travelling on their fathers wealth, talking about making the world a better place and not doing anything about it. There are many websites which cater to these people and I can say TIG definitely is not one of them. I, previously have done nothing about my views and in the past I have made plenty of mistakes but that has all been undergoing a change. In 2004 I want to have more input to various projects.
I am particularly interested in English inner-city projects to help educate kids in a practical way, about their background, their surroundings and how they can shape the future; projects in or concerning Guyana; projects in or concerning Sri Lanka - I am interested in setting up football schools in poorer areas. Though these are my main interests, if I am visiting any countries I would love to help out with any projects over there.
