 About Me |
Ari Yuda Laksmana, male, 26, is the Secretariat Project Manager Indonesian Youth Partnership (IYP, http://tigurl.org/rfrfq4), a national youth network of young people addressing partnership in ASRH rights. Ari is studying in both Bandung Islamic University majoring Psychology and Indonesia University of Education majoring English Literature. Now he is writing his both thesis on Self Regulation of Transgender Living with HIV/AIDS and Semiotic Study of Okinawan Lyrics Representing the American Army's treatment to Okinawans during World War II.
He began working in Sexual and Reproductive Health issue as a volunteer counselor in Mitra Citra Remaja, Youth Center Program of Indonesian Planned Parenthood Association under the umbrela of International Planned Parenthood Association for two years. His interest in advocacy started since he was invited to participate in Leadership and Media Advocacy Training hosted by STARH and John Hopkins University - Communication Center Program in Indonesia in 2004, and also co-founded the Indonesian Youth Partnership and was responsible in Advocacy and External Relations affair. Since then his aim in working is to connect young people to the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to uphold their rights and to enact propel the movement forward to establish equal partnership and active participation as well as to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Through his dedication and work, he has been invited to give presentation in one of 7th ICAAP symposia session in Kobe, on his dedication and work. He was also being the only delegate from Indonesia to attend Microbicides Conference in Cape Town. He was representing Indonesia as youth ambassador for the 32nd Ship for South East Asia Youth Program 2005 held by Cabinet Office Japan. In 2006, He gave presentation on Advocacy in one of the Poster Presentation in IAC 2006, Toronto. Recently He was participating in Films of Desire organized by CREA India in New Delhi. He was also a Youth Speaker to deliver his works and ideas in one of Oral Presentation and one of Youth session in Youth Pavilion held during the 8th ICAAP, Srilanka this August 2007.
While he is finishing his studies, he gives training to young people and actively involve in youth exchange program of the Ministry of Youth and Sport to trained Indonesian Young Ambassador every year. Making friends and Creating something worth for the society are the part of his idealism. Being the part of the coalition is always his dream, so he could share and gain as well knowledge and network to empower the youth and also the program that will impact the youth for the betterment. Recently, He was appointed as National Focal Point for GYCA in Asia Pasific region and He was also working on Youth Speak Up project. It is to create a Sustainable Peer Educator Network in Indonesia to fight against HIV-AIDS in his country.
