In addition to being National coordinator of Vibewire Youth Services and Project coordinator of our Vibewire.net youth-culture portal, I'm involved in a number of youth-culture and media related projects and initiatives, including being on the steering commitee of the National Youth Media Network. I run circuitry production, an electronic music production crew who have put on large-scale charity dance parties (1300 at the last one in March) down to cafe-music nights. We currently run a fortnightly pre-club, post-work down-tempo evening at an inner-city cafe/bar.
My passion is truly the empowerment of young people to play a more active role in their culture and politics, and ultimately to re-engage democracy as a participatory mechanism and set of conversations. I think the media is the key tool for doing this, and that media must be re-imagined as a forum rather than a broadcast mechanism. This is what I am seeking to build at Vibewire.net.
