About Me |
Wesam Adel Hassan, 22 years old and a fifth year medical student. She has been working as a volunteer for five years now. Her first concern has always been the reproductive health and HIV/AIDS especially with issues related to women rights. She started her work and shared in many projects through the international Federation of Medical Students' Association. Later on, she joined the Global Youth Partners team in Egypt where she was part of the "proposal and fundraising team" that succeeded in obtaining technical and financial support for the team from the government, private sector and UNIFEM. Wesam is a member of the Middle East and North Africa regional team of the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA) and as part of the coalition she had taken some of the online courses moderated by GYCA including the grant writing e-course and member in the Female Genital Mutilation campaign. she has taken an advanced training of trainers on peer education methodologies and theatre based techniques in Baku and became Y-PEER Egypt Focal Point. She was Egypt Female youth delegates in The first United Nations Global Youth Leadership Summit last October and certified as United Nations MDGs Youth Spokes Person in Egypt. Wesam has finished another advanced training of trainer on "Women Rights based on CEDAW" and hosted by UNIFEM and National Council for Women. recently she went to Turkey to attend workshop on youth pop culture, media and HIV/AIDS which has been organized by MTV , UNFPA and Y-PEER. she also, had another advanced training on using theatre based education in delievering healthy messages in New York last March and has been selected to attend training on Women leadership and HIV organized by CEDPA and Ford foundation next July in Washignton D.C. Wesam focuses her work mainly on activities aiming at changing the attitudes and behaviors of the vulnerable groups and fighting taboos and misconceptions in her society
